WHALES & SNORKELLING WITH THE SALMON

Day 1 - Vancouver to Campbell River
Upon arrival at the Vancouver International Airport, you will transfer (on own) to the Vancouver South Terminal for your flight to Campbell River. Upon arrival in Campbell River, you will transfer by airport shuttle to your hotel. Painter's Lodge is a full facility resort hotel. Features include: Legends Dining Room, outdoor swimming pool, Tyee Pub, hot tubs, Fireside Lounge, tennis courts, conference facilities, fitness centre, gift shop, car & bike rentals and children's activity centre. Painter's Lodge guests are welcome to use all of the facilities at April Point Resort, a short 10 minute water taxi: kayak rentals, motor scooter rentals, helicopter tours, bike rentals, wildlife adventure tours, gift shop, lounge, conference facilities, Sushi Bar, Dining Room and outdoor patio.

Day 2 - Whale Watching in Johnstone Strait
This morning depart on a 5 1/2 hour whale watching adventure. Vancouver Island whale watching is a West Coast adventure that you will never forget. Travel to Johnstone Strait for over five hours of BC whale watching, including a stop at Port Neville for a break and alight meal. Your Vancouver Island whale watching tour gets you up close and personal with these majestic orcas. You will get so close, you can actually hear the whales exhale and feel their salty spray on your skin. BC whale watching is one of the world's most thrilling travel experiences ' a rare chance to observe Killer Whales in a stunningly beautiful setting. Each of the 12-passenger, 24' Zodiacs is accompanied by a professional marine adventure guide and naturalist. You will be supplied the best in weather gear including cruiser suits designed specifically for this program. The Zodiacs have all the latest navigation and communications aids along with safety equipment to provide you with a secure adventure.

Note: The Whale Watching Tour operates from early July to mid September. If tour is not operating, it will be substituted with a Wildlife Adventure Cruise through Desolation Sound in pursuit of eagles, stellar sea lions, porpoises and bears.

Day 3 - Snorkelling with the Salmon
One adventure that is truly unique to the Campbell River area is the now fabled "Snorkel with the Salmon". You will be picked up at your hotel and transfer to your starting location. You will be given a mask, fins, snorkel and wetsuit, along with a lesson on the safety procedures and expectations of what you might see in the river. Embark on a journey into the shallow pools and the slow running waters of the Campbell River, to witness the migration and spawning habits of the massive runs of Coho, Steelhead, Chum, Chinook and pink salmon that spawn in the Campbell River. Keep your eyes peeled because you are likely to come face to face with some of the biggest Chinook in the world or perhaps if the timing is right you may see tens of thousands of Pink salmon wrestling their way upstream to spawn in their ancestral gravel beds. There is no other place in the world that offers this adventure.

Day 4 - Depart Campbell River
This morning you will transfer by airport shuttle, back to the Campbell River Airport in time for your flight departure back to the Vancouver International Airport. Upon arrival at the South Terminal transfer (on own) to the main terminal in time for your flight departure home.
