Day 1 - Whistler to Quesnel
Your 2-day journey to Jasper, Alberta starts this morning in Whistler, British Columbia, host of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Board the Rocky Mountaineer® and begin an incredible trip that will take you through some of the most remote and scenic landscape in North America. This morning the highlights include the beautiful Pemberton Valley, the glacier fed waters of Seton Lake and the dizzy heights of Deep Creek Bridge, one of the highest railway bridges in the world. Traveling along the banks of the mighty Fraser River the train climbs up to the Cariboo Plateau and continues along the desert-like plains and grasslands to the small lumber community of Quesnel where your journey ends for then night.

Day 2 - Quesnel to Jasper
Leaving Quesnel, the train continues along the path of the Fraser River, following a route that was well-known to the fur traders over 200 years ago. You will pass through vast forests on your way to the famous Rocky Mountain Trench that runs parallel to the Rocky Mountains for over 900 miles. Soon the towering peak of Mt Robson, highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies comes into view. Following the shores of Moose Lake, the train soon reaches the headwaters of the Fraser River at Beauregard Falls. Within a few minutes the train crosses into the province of Alberta and Jasper National Park. Within sight of the dominating peaks of Mt Edith Cavell and the slopes of Pyramid Mountain your rail journey comes to an end in the picturesque resort town of Jasper.
NOTE: This itinerary can be done in the opposite direction from Jasper to Whistler
