Welcome to the jagged headlands, sandy beaches, lush green valleys, open barrens, and the starting point into the Cape Breton Highlands. Ingonish is a popular resort destination set along the coast with two large bays separated by the beautiful Middle Head Peninsula. The area is actually a cluster of five small communities on the Cabot Trail. From start to finish the area covers only 16 kms so no matter where you stay in Ingonish, you are only minutes away from all recreation and services. In the summer visitors can choose from a comfortable swim in fresh water lakes, a refreshing dip in the Atlantic Ocean, a scenic cruise, or a whale watching tour. Freshly caught lobster is available from mid-May until mid-July, followed by the snow crab season which usually lasts until mid-August. During these times, local service clubs host delicious lobster suppers. The area offers both saltwater and freshwater fishing with ocean charters available. The multitude of lakes, ponds and rivers provide excellent salmon and trout fishing from June through early October.
