GRIZZLY BEAR & WILDLIFE VIEWING AT TYAX RESORT

4 DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 -Arrive in Vancouver
Upon arrival at the Vancouver International Airport, you will pick up your rental car and begin your journey to the Tyax Mountain Resort. Remainder of the day is at leisure.

OPTIONAL TRANSPORTATION:

For those that do not want to drive to the resort, you have the option of upgrading to a floatplane or van transfer from Vancouver to the resort.

Day 2 & 3 -Grizzly Bear & Nature Viewing
This morning you will start with an orientation lesson that will introduce you to the local trails, wildlife, flora and fauna. Followed by wildlife viewing techniques and bear safety procedures. Depending on where the bears are roaming, you will walk, travel by ATV's, 4x4's, take a boat ride, or if the guest is up to it, go on horseback. A guide will always be with you.

In the spring, bears and other wildlife migrate to the first greened up valleys and south facing slopes to feed. With the melting of snow and the arrival of the summer some bears travel higher up to the alpine meadows. Here they can be observed digging up roots and marmots. But they really like berries, which grow only where sunlight can penetrate the forest cover. And this is along the trails. The big male bears called boars get the best spots. Female bears called sows, cubs, juveniles and black bears have to keep their distance.

Day 4 -Depart Tyax Mountain Resort
Depart Tyax Resort and travel back to the Vancouver International Airport in time for your flight home.
