The Great River Journey is a safari for 10 passengers aboard a 45-foot deluxe vessel on the Yukon River from Whitehorse to Dawson City. Following in the footsteps of those lured to Yukon by the promise of gold, river cruise passengers will enjoy spectacular scenery interpreted by an onboard guide. The trip offers frequent landings to view wildlife and explore the rugged landscape, visit historical or geological points of interest, or rest and relax. Passengers will also be given the rare opportunity for an aerial view of this majestic waterway with a one-hour trip by floatplane from Steamboat Island to accommodations near Fort Selkirk, a heritage site.

Wildlife at the preserve include moose, muskoxen, mountain goats, Dall and Stone sheep, woodland caribou, elk (called wapiti by indigenous people), wood bison and mule deer.
