MIDDLE SCHOOL

Welcome to the Seattle Hebrew Academy's Middle School

To be a Middle Schooler at SHA is to be launched into a life of leadership, responsibility and commitment to the Jewish People, all in an environment of support and friendship. Expectations for our students are consistent and high. Students learn organizational skills along with each of their academic subjects. Morning Tefilah invites daily reflection and prepares students for the day. In Judaic studies students are introduced to Mishnah and then to Talmud. In addition to Chumash with classic commentaries students learn, Torat Eretz Yisrael in preparation for the reading of the weekly Torah portion, a Parsha class that focuses on the centrality of the land of Israel. We are very proud of our newly introduced NETA Hebrew language curriculum. Finally, this year we are introducing the MATAN, mother daughter Bat Mitzvah program for our Middle School girls.

Our newly expanded math department offers general math, pre-algebra, algebra and geometry in the classroom and expanded technology opportunities in the computer lab. Our state of the art science lab provides many opportunities for science investigation and our middle school scientists showcase their innovative experiments at the annual science fair. Language arts and social studies are integrated using appropriate literature as well as primary sources and informational texts.
