Day 2 - North Shore Excursion
View
rolling farmlands, stunning seascapes, tiny villages and
bustling harbours along the Blue Heron Drive as you get
ready to tour the North Shore area. Brief photo stops at
quaint little fishing villages, lighthouses and the world
class Cavendish Beach. Tour on your own at Green Gables
House - This old farmsite inspired L.M. Montgomery's first
novel, Anne of Green Gables, published in 1908. A must stop
for a leisurely riverside lunch (not included) will be at
Prince Edward Island Preserve Company, located in one of
Canada's prettiest villages. The company uses locally grown
fruit to make delicious jams and marmalades. They are famous
for their great quality food. The menu is simple and it
celebrates the wonderful food that is grown or fished on the
Island.
You will also visit the North Rustico Fishing Village before returning to Charlottetown.

Historic Village, Lighthouse & Winery Tour OR The Gateway Experience
This morning
at Leisure. In the afternoon, you have your choice
between The Gateway Experience OR the Historic Village, Lighthouse &
Winery Tour that travels along the Kings Byway Drive
through beautiful coastal scenery.
Historic Village, Lighthouse & Winery Tour (Departs Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday &
Sunday)
This afternoon depart on a tour where you will view
a variety of different landscapes along the Kings Byway Drive. including coastal
cliffs and beaches, forests, rolling farmland, pastoral rivers and the ever
present sea. Enjoy your visit to the historic Orwell Corner Village - a
recreation of a crossroads village in P.E.I. in the 19th century. Animators in
costume demonstrate blacksmith work, farming or life in a general store. On the
way to Little Sands, a stop will be made in
Murray River
, noted for its range of quality craft shops. A visit to Rossignol Estates
Winery, the
Island
's only winery, vineyard and art gallery in a rural setting with a panoramic
view of the
Northumberland Strait
. The perfect setting to sample fine local vintages. The tour continues to Wood
Islands Lighthouse - this 54 ft tower has a spectacular 360-degree view of
picturesque historic coastal scenery, a working fishing port and a ferry
terminal. You'll also have a chance to explore the 124-year-old interpretive
center for P.E.I Lighthouses.

The tour travels along the
scenic Blue Heron Drive passing through the heart of the
South
Shore, famous for its rolling hills, red cliffs and winding rivers.
Tour highlights include Victoria by the Sea, learn about and actually cross the
World Famous Confederation Bridge, Cape Jourimain Interpretive Centre in New
Brunswick, and Gateway Village. Ample time will be provided at Gateway Village, the first stop on
Prince Edward Island
which houses an information centre, the Official Island Store, PEI Emporium,
Cow's Ice Cream, Paderno Cookware and Cavendish Figurines, the History of
Transportation exhibit, as well as food and other services.

at Leisure / Dinner & Musical Theatre
This evening you will enjoy a pre theatre 3-course dinner at Mavor's Bistro. Your meal will be prepared with the freshest Island ingredients served in the comfort of the newly renovated dining facilities. After dinner, browse in the gift shop & art gallery before attending your theatre presentation. Experience an award-winning Canadian musical theatre at the Charlottetown Festival. An exciting playbill of musical theatre and Maritime music and entertainment are being planned for 2008 Festival from June 12 - September 27, 2008.
