Quebec City is the only walled city in North America and offers a host of historic sites and attractions. During the summer enjoy strolling along the narrow cobblestone streets in the Old City, with its cafes and street performers. Well worth a visit are the Citadel, Notre Dame Basilica and the Parliament Buildings. An easy day trip from Quebec City includes popular sites like the Montmorency Falls, Ile d'Orleans and the Basilica at St. Anne de Beaupre. In the winter you can enjoy excellent downhill skiing a short drive away, winter festivals, skating on the Dufferin Terrace, canoe races on the St. Lawrence River or see Montmorency Falls transformed into an immense icicle. As well, you can taste a favorite treat - frozen maple syrup at a traditional sugar shack on the Ile d'Orleans.
